Kapil Dev's massive praise for Jasprit Bumrah: 'He's 1000 times better than me'

Legendary India all rounder Kapil Dev has hailed star India seamer Jasprit Bumrah calling him 1000 times better than him. Notably, Bumrah is in sensational form in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 having picked 11 wickets from six innings at an average of 8.54 and an economy of 4.08.

The right-arm speedster won back-to-back Player of the Match awards against Ireland and Pakistan picking 2/6 (3 overs) and 3/14 (4 overs) respectively. Against Pakistan, Bumrah helped India defend a low score of 119 as he got the prized scalps of Babar Azam (13 off 10), Mohammad Rizwan (31 off 44) and Iftikhar Ahmed (5 off 9).

Hailing Bumrah for his performance, Kapil Dev called him 1000 times better than him and called the current



generation more hardworking and fantastic.

"Bumrah is 1000 times better than me. These young boys are far better than us. We had more experience. They are better. They are very good. Outstanding. They are fitter. They are much more hardworking. They are fantastic," said Kapil Dev to PTI videos.

Notably, Kapil is touted as the greatest seamer to emerge from India being the the fourth-highest wicket-taker for the country across formats. The ‘Haryana Hurricane’ has picked up 687 wickets from 356 matches at an average of 28.83 and an economy of 3.05. The legendary seamer finished his career as the leading wicket-taker in Test cricket with 434 wickets from 131 matches at an average of 29.64 and an economy of 2.78.
