Kolkata Knight Riders on Wednesday, August 17 announced the appointment of Chandrakant Pandit as head coach of the two-time Indian Premier League champions for IPL 2023 season. Chandrakant Pandit, the 60-year-old who has an incredible track record as coach of domestic teams in India, will replace Brendon McCullum, who quit the KKR role to take over as England men's Test team's head coach.
Former India wicketkeeper-batter Chandrakant Pandit is one of the most celebrated coaches in the domestic circuit, having
won as many as 6 first-class titles as a coach so far. As recently as 2022, Chandrakant oversaw a less-fancied Madhya Pradesh team's run to their maiden Ranji Trophy title. It was an emotional victory for Chandrakant, who had been part of an MP side that lost the final to Karnataka 23 years ago. However, MP defeated 41-time champions Mumbai in the final to clinch a historic victory.
Chandrakant Pandit had led Mumbai to 3 Ranji Trophy titles, Saurashtra to 2 titles and Madhya Pradesh to glory earlier this year.
