The stage is all set for a scintillating new season, albeit a delayed one, of the Indian Premier League and all franchises are ready to begin their respective IPL 2020 campaigns. While Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings will feature in the IPL 2020 opener, on September 19, Kolkata Knight Riders would begin their campaign on September 23.
With the recent Australia’s limited-overs tour of England being concluded on Wednesday, IPL-bound players from both teams have flown into the UAE. Earlier on Friday morning, the official Twitter handle of Kolkata Knight Riders notified that Pat Cummins, Eoin Morgan, and Tom Banton have joined them in UAE. The latest to join the KKR camp, on Friday evening, is head coach Brendon McCullum.
Dinesh Karthik’s KKR
are a solid team this season as they had covered all bases during the auction. While Karthik will find support in England’s World Cup-winning captain Eoin Morgan, the Irishman would also solidify the middle-order for KKR which looks strong with Rahul Tripathi and Andre Russell in it.
Besides Russell’s lower-order power-hitting, England’s Tom Banton will take care of the spark in the top-order. Meanwhile, Pat Cummins would lead the pace attack for the Kolkata-based IPL team. The lastest to arrive to camp will find enough time before their first IPL 2020 game. Harry Gurney’s replacement, USA’s Ali Khan, reached UAE last week.
KKR will begin their IPL 2020 journey by locking horns with Mumbai Indians, at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, on September 23.
