Mayank Yadav, Nitish Reddy, Harshit Rana and Prasidh Krishna are amongst the travelling reserves for India’s upcoming three-match Test series against Tom Latham’s New Zealand. Mayank and Nitish recently made their international debuts in the T20I series against Najmul Hossain Shanto’s Bangladesh and did not let their teams down.
Mayank came up the ranks after clocking in the 150s consistently while playing for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Nitish also played a vital role in Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) advancing to the final. With India going into the new era after Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli’s retirement, both players were given a chance in the Bangladesh T20Is.
Mayank made his debut in the first T20I in Gwalior, where he had figures of 4-1-21-1. He clocked in the high 140s and also picked up the wicket of Mahmudullah Riyad, who will be playing his last and final T20I on Saturday at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. Mayank has played one
first-class match until now.
Nitish, on the other hand, grabbed the limelight for his stellar showing in the second T20I where he won the Player of the Match award after India beat Bangladesh by 86 runs to take an unassailable 2-0 series lead.
Batting at No.4, Nitish scored 74 runs off 34 balls with the help of four fours and seven sixes. Thereafter, he got the wickets of Mahmudullah and Tanzim Hasan Sakib to finish with figures of 4-0-23-2.
