Mumbai Indians unveiled their new jersey for the Indian Premier League (2023) season on Friday, March 10. The traditional Blue and Gold pattern has been retained with a lot of new intricate features for the new season, which gets underway on March 31 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Mumbai Indians' new jersey was launched on Friday with the likes of Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan donning the new threads. The 5-time champions unveiled the new jersey with a fine video that detailed the idea that went into coming up with the design for the kit. The new jersey was conceptualised by designer duo of Shantanu and Nikhil, MI said in a statement.
"Carefully picking elements almost synonymous to the city like the famous Kaali Peeli ride, Sea link, a skyline that makes people gaze in awe for hours and the spirit to continue expanding our goals. Bringing in the euphoria of Street into prints, the gold line navigates its path on jersey like every dreamer who zig zags in the city running behind dreams, eventually
meeting their best selves," the designer duo said, talking about the design of the jersey.
Mumbai Indians will open their campaign on Sunday, April 2 against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The IPL 2023 season opener will be played between Chennai Super Kings and defending champions Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad.
Mumbai Indians had a season to forget in 2022 as they finished last in the 10-team IPL with 4 wins from 14 matches. Rohit Sharma and his men will be hoping that the new kit brings them a change in fortunes in the new season.
Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians also announced that the tickets for their home games at the Wankhede Stadium begun via pre-registration. The sales for fans will get underway on March 14.
Notably, Mumbai Indians will host Chennai Super Kings in a blockbuster clash in their first home game on April 8.
Notably, IPL 2023 will mark the return of the tournament in home-way format for the first time since 2019.
