The Bangladesh Cricket Board on Thursday announced Najmul Hossain Shanto as the captain of their ODI and T20I squads for the upcoming series against New Zealand in New Zealand. Najmul is leading the Test team in the ongoing home series against the BlackCaps.
Najmul Hasan Shanto will replace Shakib Al Hasan who is out of the ongoing Test series and the upcoming limited-overs tour of New Zealand due to injury. Another prominent name who is missing from the ODI and T20I squads is fast bowler Taskin Ahmed who is also nursing an injury.
All-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz has been named as the vice-captain of both the ODI and T20I squads while wicketkeeper-batter Litton Das returns to the side after partnerity leave.

Bangladesh will play 3 T20Is and as many ODIs from December 17, a week after the Test series ends with the 2nd match in Dhaka.
Notably, Najmul Hossain Shanto scripted history on Thursday, November 30 as he became the first Bangladesh player to hit a hundred on Test captaincy debut. Shanto's 104 not out put Bangladesh in a position of strength against New Zealand on Day 3 of the first Test in Sylhet.
