Namibia has announced its squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia. The team features 16 members and will be led by Gerhard Erasmus. The team also features a blend of young and experienced players.
The Southern African nation becomes the sixth country to name its squad for the marquee event. Earlier, Australia, England, India, South Africa and the Netherlands announced their teams for the tournament.
Namibia is placed in Group A of the Round 1 stage along with Sri Lanka, Netherlands and UAE. The Namibia cricket team, also known as the Eagles, will kick off their World Cup campaign against Sri Lanka on October 16 and then the Netherlands on 18th October. The Eagles will then take
on UAE in their final game of round 1.
Namibia had a great outing in the 2021 edition of the World Cup in UAE as they reached into the Super 12 despite being in a tough group in round 1. They were placed with Sri Lanka, Ireland and Netherlands. The Erasmus-led side had defeated Netherlands and Ireland to cruise into Super 12, where they played against some world-class cricket teams.
