Nepal announced their squad for the upcoming ICC T20 Men's Cricket World Cup 2024 on Wednesday. The star batting all-rounder Rohit Paudel is named captain to lead a strong 15-member squad for the mega tournament in the USA and West Indies starting on June 1.
Oman also revealed their team for the ICC T20 World Cup on Wednesday and surprised everyone with a captaincy change. Experienced openers Aqib Ilyas took the captaincy reins from the veteran all-rounder Zeeshan Maqsood but there are no surprises in Oman's 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC event.
Jatinder Singh and Samay Shrivastav failed to make the team but are in reserve. Oman are in Group B with defending champions England, title favourites Australia, and low-ranked sides Scotland and
Namibia.
"I am truly honoured to be entrusted with the captaincy," Aqib Ilyas said. "It's a huge responsibility, and I aim to lead the team to many victories. We are preparing rigorously for the World Cup, and the recent ACC Premier Cup has provided us with invaluable preparation."
Meanwhile, Nepal named an expected squad for the T20 World Cup with in-form skipper Paudel continuing to lead the team. Paudel smashed one century and a fifty in the ongoing unofficial T20Is against West Indies A where hosts Nepal are trailing 1-2 in the five-match series.
