The construction of the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York is going on in full flow before the T20 World Cup 2024 set to take place in the West Indies and the United States of America (USA). New York is one of the 9 cities to host all the matches in the mega event.
The stadium has a capacity of 34,000 and will host 8 matches, including the marquee clash between India and Pakistan on Sunday, June 9. The ground is India’s home venue as Rohit Sharma’s men will also face Ireland and the USA on June 5 and 12 respectively.
“It is extremely exciting to see the progress made in the construction of the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York over the past month. Work on the outfield commenced in January and in the past few weeks the East Stand framework has really started to take shape,”
Chris Tetley, the ICC Head of Events, said.
The East Stand of the venue, which is expected to have a capacity of 12,500 fans, has been being constructed over the past month. Work is also being done on the outfield, and premium hospitality and media pavilions.
USA and Canada will kick of proceedings in the T20 World Cup on Sunday, June 2 at the Grand Prairie Stadium, Dallas.
