New Zealand, on Friday, November 4, officially made their way through to the semi-final of T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia.
The Black Caps, captained by Kane Williamson, became the first team to advance to the semis after Afghanistan restricted Australia to 168 for the loss of eight wickets in their Super 12 match at the Adelaide Oval.
Prior to the game, Australia needed to score 185 to have any chance of topping the Kiwis' net run rate.
But after being restricted below that score, they lost the chance of going past the Black Caps even if they bowled the Afghans out for 0.
However, the Aussies still have a chance of getting past England's net run rate, which is currently at +0.547. If they beat Afghanistan by 105 runs, they would go past the Three Lions.
The match between England and Sri Lanka on Saturday, November 5 at the Sydney Cricket Ground will hold a lot of importance.
