In ICC Champions Trophy Tournament, all semifinalists have been confirmed as Pakistan notched up a three-wicket win over Sri Lanka in their must-win Group B match yesterday. Now, group A topper England will lock horns with Pakistan in first semifinal tomorrow at Cardiff Wales Stadium. In another semifinal, on Thursday, top in the group B table India will take on Bangladesh at Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham.
Yesterday, with the help of opener Fakhar Zaman's quick fifty and Skipper Sarfraz Ahmed's unbeaten 61 runs, Pakistan chased a modest 237 runs target with 31 balls to spare.
However, Pakistan suffered an inexplicable collapse to slip to 162-7. Finally, it was Sarfraz, who played a resolute captain's knock to take Pakistan into semifinals. The wicket-keeper batsman shared an unbeaten 75-run stand with Mohammad Amir for the 8th wicket to overhaul the target. For Pakistan, fast bowlers Hasan Ali and Junaid Khan claimed three wickets each.
Earlier sent to bat, Sri Lanka were all out in last over with four ball still to be played. They scored 236 runs as except opener Niroshan Dickwella's 73 none of their batsman crossed 40.
