Pak vs Eng: Mohammad Rizwan joins Babar Azam to become joint-fastest to 2000 T20I runs

Mohammad Rizwan, on Tuesday, September 20, became the joint-fastest batter to score 2000 runs in T20Is. The right-hander accomplished the feat in Pakistan’s first T20I against England at National Stadium in Karachi.

Rizwan got to the feat in his 52nd innings and he joined Babar Azam, who scored his 2000th run in his 52nd innings during Pakistan’s tour of Zimbabwe back in April 2021. Rizwan also bettered the numbers of Virat Kohli, who scored 2000 runs in 56 innings.

Rizwan also became the fourth Pakistani batter after



Babar, Mohammad Hafeez and Shoaib Malik to score 2000 runs in T20Is.

Rizwan came into the seven-match T20I series against England after becoming the leading run-scorer in the 2022 edition of the Asia Cup in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). He scored 55 runs in the final, but his knock went in vain.

As far as the game in Karachi was concerned, Rizwan was involved in an 85-run stand off 9.3 overs with skipper Babar. Earlier in the Asia Cup final against Sri Lanka, Rizwan faced a lot of flak for not being able to step on the gas.
