Punjab clinched their maiden Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy by defeating Baroda by 20 runs in Mohali on Monday, 6 December. Anmolpreet Singh and later Arshdeep Singh turned out to be heroes for side on the day, putting in sensational displays in either halves of the game. This was Punjab's first title in the domestic arena since their Ranji Trophy victory in the 1992-93 season.
The match saw the momentum see-sawing between the two teams
from the very start on Monday, 6 November at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium in Mohali. Baroda started well with the ball dismissing star openers Abhishek Sharma (0) and Prabhsimran Singh (9). The Indian Premier League-fame players departed without doing much damage inside four overs in the first innings. The Punjab side were rescued by a sensational innings from Anmolpreet Singh who grafted the innings and scored a sensational century off just 58 balls.
