Ranji Trophy: Shardul, Rahane star as Mumbai outclass Haryana to seal semis spot

Captain Ajinkya Rahane, all-rounder Shardul Thakur, and fast bowler Royston Dias scripted Mumbai's incredible come-from-behind victory over Haryana in their Ranji Trophy quarter-final on Tuesday, February 11. Rahane's century and Dias's five-wicket haul sealed Mumbai's dominant 152-run win, keeping the defending champions' title hopes alive.

Ajinkya Rahane struck his first century of the season to help Mumbai extend their lead to a match-winning target in the second innings. The out-of-favour Test batter was fluent in his knock, which shifted momentum in Mumbai's favour as he hit 13



boundaries. Rahane had solid support from Suryakumar Yadav, who made up for his first-innings failure with a gritty 70 in the second innings.

Rahane got his 41st first-class hundred in his 200th match in red-ball cricket, showcasing once again he is made for the big matches.

Meanwhile, Shardul Thakur continued to keep the selectors interested in his progress ahead of the England tour. The all-rounder took nine wickets in the match, including a six-wicket haul in the first innings that triggered Haryana's batting collapse and secured a first-innings lead for Mumbai.
