Mohali: All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja hit his second Test hundred after the exit of Ravichandran Ashwin as India were 468 for 7 at lunch on Day 2 of the ongoing series opener in Mohali. Ashwin looked good and hit eight boundaries in his 61-run knock before being removed by Suranga Lakmal.
Sri Lanka needed this session to go their way but they were quite flat and they never looked like taking a wicket this morning. They are surely hampered by the loss of Lahiru Kumara and their decision to play only one frontline spinner has turned out to be a disaster. The wicket no doubt is good to bat on but Sri Lanka will be mighty disappointed with this session, though
there was some respite with Lakmal getting rid of Ashwin at the fag-end of the session.
Sri Lanka need some inspiration and better body language in the afternoon session to fight back in this game, otherwise, more misery awaits them. The ploy of bowling short from ‘round the wicket produced a positive result for them at the end and they need more out-of-the-box thinking going forward.
Ravindra Jadeja was playing on 102 runs and Jayant Yadav playing on 2 runs when the last reports came in.
The post-Lunch session will resume at 12-10 pm.
