Royal Challengers Bangalore will be sporting a special blue jersey in one of their upcoming matches at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 to honour the frontline workers fighting day and night against the Covid-19 pandemic in India.
RCB captain Virat Kohli, who made the announcement in a video message posted on social media by RCB, also revealed that they will be auctioning the signed-player jerseys from the game to raise money for India's health infrastructure, which is reeling under the lethal second wave of the coronavirus.
"What's happening in our country with
the spread of the COVID virus is deeply concerning. We as a franchise over the past week have had focused discussions on how we can help at the ground level and assist frontline workers in these dire times."
"RCB has identified key areas in which immediate help is required in healthcare infrastructure related to Oxygen support and will be making a financial contribution in this regard," Koli said in the video.
The blue jerseys will also have important healthcare messages engraved on it. RCB will take on the Kolkata Knight Riders in their next IPL 2021 game on May 3.
