Royal Challengers Bangalore all-rounder Ellyse Perry scripted history in a must-win Women's Premier League (WPL) 2024 clash against Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Perry was introduced into the attack late but had a significant impact, taking six wickets for 16 runs in her four overs.

After Mumbai Indians made a good start with the bat, Perry ripped through the reigning champions' star-studded batting lineup, taking wickets of S Sajana, Harmanpreet Kaur, Amelia Kerr, Amanjot Kaur, Pooja Vastrakar, and Nat Sciver Brunt. Perry's amazing spell put the MI batting squad in serious peril, as they lost seven wickets before reaching the century mark. Earlier in the day, RCB captain Smriti Mandhana won the toss and elected to bowl first, and Perry's performance had vindicated her decision.

Perry made history with a remarkable spell, registering the best bowling numbers in the competition. The Australian superstar is the first cricketer in history to take six wickets in a single match of the lucrative league. Perry concluded with figures of

6-15 in her four-over stretch, putting RCB in prime position to make the playoffs for the first time in history.

The 33-year-old is the fifth bowler in WPL history to take a five-wicket haul (his second this season). She continued to strike at regular intervals as Mumbai struggled to recover from her fury and were bowled out for 113 in 19 overs. She took two wickets in the ninth, eleventh, and thirteenth overs, resulting in one of the finest bowling stints in women's T20 history.

The 33-year-old is also the first player in men's and women's cricket history to score a century and six wickets in a first-class, List-A, and T20 career. Perry was also involved in Hayley Matthews' first wicket, taking a stunning catch at square leg to end the Windies star's innings. The 33-year-old got the ball to repeatedly nip back from the crease, cleaning out four batsmen and trapping two in front of the wicket to sap the life out of defending champions Mumbai, who were 82 for 7 after 13 overs. She struck Harmanpreet Kaur, S Sajana, Amanjot Kaur, and Pooja Vastrakar's timbers.
