Royal Challengers Bangalore's new recruit Reece Topley suffered a nasty injury on his Indian Premier League debut on Sunday, April 2. The England left-arm pacer jammed his right shoulder into the ground at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru after trying to stop a boundary in their team's opening match of the season against 5-time champions Mumbai Indians.
Reece Topley was roped in for Rs 1.90 crore by Royal Challengers Bangalore as they added to their pace-bowling firepower. However, the 29-year-old tall seamer from England was wincing in pain as he was helped off the field by the physios.
Topley was in severe pain as he lay flat on the ground and looked in discomfort when he was trudging off the field as his RCB teammates looked on with concern.

Notably, Topley had given RCB a fine start, getting the big wicket of Mumbai Indains new signing Cameron Green with a stunning yorker. Topley had completed 2 overs and given away 14 runs when he picked up the injury.
Topley had been haunted by injury concerns in the recent past. After making the T20 World Cup side for England in 2022 following some terrific performances with the ball, he was ruled out of the tournament due to an ankle-ligament injury. He picked up the injury during warm-up in Brisbane.
He returned to action in the New Year and took part in the SA20 and the ILT20.
Only on Friday, New Zealand's former captain Kane Williamson picked up a knee injury while playing for his new franchise Gujarat Titans. The top batter was ruled out of the tournament. He picked up the injury when he tried to save a six hit by Chennai Super Kings' Ruturaj Gaikwad in the IPL 2023 opener.
