Former Indian batter Sachin Tendulkar hasn’t run out of gas by any stretch of the imagination. It’s nearly been nine years since the Master Blaster last donned the national colours, but he still hasn’t lost his hunger for scoring runs for which he was known in his illustrious career.
On Saturday, September 10, Tendulkar plied his trade for India Legends in their match against South Africa Legends in Match No.1 of the Road Safety World Series. At Green Park in Kanpur, Sachin opened the batting alongside Naman Ojha after India opted to bat first.
While Tendulkar was a little sedate in the first couple of overs, Ojha smashed three fours to give
momentum to the Indian innings. In the second ball of the fourth over, Sachin gave a glimpse of his stupendous batting prowess.
He hit fast bowler Makhaya Ntini for a four through the long-on region as the crowd cheered loudly for him. In the very next over, Sachin creamed Johan van der Wath for a four through the long-off region.
However, the veteran ran out of luck soon after. In the second ball of the sixth over, Ntini induced a false stroke from Sachin and Johan Botha took a relatively simple catch.
Sachin ended up scoring 16 runs off 15 balls with two fours and was also involved in a 46-run stand for the opening wicket with Ojha.
