Pakistan on Thursday, September 15 named a 15-man squad for the T20 World Cup 2022, starting October 22 in Australia. There were no major surprises but Pakistan brought back Shaan Masood and dropped Fakhar Zaman to the reserves.
Pakistan also received a major boost as Shaheen Shah Afridi, who was ruled out of the Asia Cup 2022, is back to the squad for the T20 World Cup. Afridi underwent surgery in London and is expected to join the T20 World Cup squad directly in Australia.
There was no place for either Shoaib Malik or former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed even as local media reports suggested a return for the senior campaigners after the Asia Cup
snub.
Naseem Shah retained his pace in the squad after a series of breakthrough performances in the Asia Cup.
Fakhar Zaman has been named in the reserves as he recovers from a knee injury that he suffered while fielding in Asia Cup 2022 final against Sri Lanka, the PCB said.
