India suffered a big blow on Tuesday as batsman Shreyas Iyer walked off the field after injuring his shoulder during England's run chase in the 1st ODI in Pune.
Shreyas dived to save a boundary in the 8th over bowled by Shardul Thakur and started writhing in pain immediately as he clutched his left shoulder. The Indian team physiotherapist came out to treat the 26-year-old before deciding to take him off the field. He was later sent for scans which revealed that he partially dislocated his left
shoulder.
Shubman Gill came on the field as a substitute fielder to replace Iyer, who scored just 6 runs in India's total.
Notably, India are already missing vice-captain Rohit Sharma on the field after he injured his right elbow while batting. Rohit carried on to bat after taking the blow in Mark Wood's over but the opener was dimissed for 28.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) later confirmed the extent of their injuries and revealed that both players won't be taking any further part in the game.
