Star Indian batter Shreyas Iyer is likely to represent Mumbai in the upcoming Ranji Trophy match against Andhra Pradesh. The Ranji Trophy game is scheduled to take place from January 12th to 15th at the MCA Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy Ground, located in the Bandra Kurla Complex of Mumbai.

This match marks Shreyas Iyer's return to the Ranji Trophy after a hiatus, with his last appearance for Mumbai dating back to 2018. Shreyas Iyer has scored 5407 runs in 67 first-class matches, including 13 centuries.

Shreyas Iyer's participation in the domestic tournament comes on the back of his exclusion from India's three-match T20I series against Afghanistan, which is set to commence on January 11th in Mohali. His return to red-ball cricket is timely, as it provides him with valuable match practice ahead of India's five-match Test series against England, starting on January 25th in Hyderabad.

The Mumbai team, led by Ajinkya Rahane, will be without Sarfaraz Khan and pacer Tushar Deshpande for this match, as they are committed to playing for the India 'A' team against the England Lions in Ahmedabad. However, the squad will be bolstered by

the inclusion of fast bowler Sylvester Dsouza and opener Amogh Bhatkal.

Mumbai, a formidable side with 41 Ranji Trophy titles to their name, began their 2023/24 season with an impressive victory over Bihar in Patna, securing seven points from the win. As they prepare to face Andhra Pradesh, who earned three points from their previous match against Bengal, Mumbai will be looking to continue their dominant form in the tournament.

"The Senior Selection Committee of Mumbai Cricket Association consisting of Rajeev Kulkarni (Chairman), Sanjay Patil, Ravi Thaker, Jeetendra Thackeray and Kiran Powar has selected the following players to represent Mumbai in Ranji Trophy 2023-2024 match against Andhra to be played from 12th to 15th January 2024 at MCA Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy Ground, Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai," MCA's official statement said.

Mumbai Ranji Trophy squad for match against Andhra Pradesh: Ajinkya Rahane (c), Shreyas Iyer, Jay Bista, Bhupen Lalwani, Amogh Bhatkal, Suved Parkar, Prasad Pawar (WK), Hardik Tamore (WK), Shams Mulani, Tanush Kotian, Atharva Ankolekar, Mohit Awasthi, Dhaval Kulkarni, Roystan Dias, Sylvester Dsouza
