On the second day of the fourth and final test at Sydney, India consolidated their position against Australia as Cheteshwar Pujara smashed brilliant 193. India were 491 for 6 in their first innings when reports last came in.
India resumed their innings with 303 for 4 this morning and lost the wickets of Cheteshwar Pujara and Hanuma Vihari. Pujara scored 193 off 373 balls with 22 boundaries while Vihari contributed 42 runs. Risabh Pant also scored a half-century. Nathan Lyon picked up 3
wickets and Josh Hazlewood took two wickets for the hosts.
India won the toss yesterday and elected to bat first. Mayank Agarwal posted 77 runs on the first day of the test.
Leading 2-1 in the four-match series, India have already retained the Border-Gavaskar Trophy after victory in Melbourne. The visitors are now on the cusp of creating history by winning a maiden Test series in Australia.
