Former Indian skipper Virat Kohli, on Wednesday, November 3, gifted a bat to Litton Das after the T20 World Cup Super 12 match against Bangladesh at the Adelaide Oval.
After the Tigers were asked to chase down 185, Litton smashed a 21-ball half-century and helped his team get above the DLS par score at the end of seven overs when rain halted play.
Litton went on to score 60 runs off 27 balls before a direct hit from KL Rahul accounted for his wicket. After the match, Kohli, who won the Player of the Match award for his 64-run knock, gifted a bat to the Dinajpur-born Litton.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) cricket operations chairman, Jalal Yunus, confirmed the same.
"When we were sitting
in the dining hall, Virat Kohli came and gifted a bat to Litton. According to me, it was a moment of inspiration for Litton," Jalal Yunus was quoted as saying, BDcrictime Bangla reported.
Yunus also had words of praise for Litton, who gave Bangladesh a realistic chance of beating India in Adelaide.
"Litton is a class batter. We have seen him play classical shots. He is a brilliant player in Tests and ODIs. Recently, he has started playing well in T20Is as well," he added.
After Liton got out, Bangladesh lost wickets at regular intervals in their run-chase. Taskin Ahmed and Nurul Hasan Sohan pulled off some big shots, but their efforts went in vain. The Tigers went on to lose the match by five runs (DLS Method).
