Rohan Mustafa is the major omission as the United Arab Emirates (UAE) named a 15-member squad for the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. Mustafa happens to be the most-capped T20I player for the UAE, having played 55 matches in which he scored 984 runs and picked up 61 wickets.
Mustafa played one match in the Asia Cup 2022 Qualifiers in Oman against Kuwait. CP Rizwan, who had replaced Ahmed Raza as the T20I skipper before the Asia Cup, will continue to lead the team.
"Qualifying to play against top national teams of the world at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup marks a milestone with UAE Cricket’s growing strengths in the T20 format. We extend our deep appreciation to all who have
invested their time and efforts as we arrive at this unique moment in Emirates Cricket’s history.
"We wish our team the very best as they continue to make their mark on international cricket at the ICC T20 World Cup," Dr. Tayeb Kamali, the selection Committee Chairman of Emirates Cricket, was quoted as saying.
