Uttar Pradesh beat Gujarat by 5 wickets to enter final in Vijay Hazare Trophy

Left-arm medium pacer Yash Dayal took 3 wickets and batsman Akshdeep Nath scored 71 to take Uttar Pradesh into the finals of the Vijay Hazare Trophy on Thursday.

In a low-scoring game in Delhi, Gujarat, who had been unbeaten in the tournament so far, won the toss and decided to bat first, but the UP bowlers struck at regular intervals to leave Gujarat struggling at 92/5 in 26 overs.

A 66-run stand between Het Patel and Piyush Chawla got them to a below-par score of 184 as they were bowled out within 48.1 overs.

Uttar Pradesh did not get off to a good



start as they lost their openers by the seventh over and were stuttering at 27/2 in 6.3 overs.

Sunrisers Hyderabad star Priyam Garg hit 3 boundaries but departed for just 15 runs as UP further slipped to 45-3 in 12 overs.

Skipper Karan Sharma and batsman Akshdeep Nath stitched together a 89-run partnership to get their team out of trouble as Uttar Pradesh won by 5 wickets to enter the final of the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

They will take on Prithvi Shaw-led Mumbai in the decider on Sunday as Mumbai beat Karnataka by 72 runs to reach the final on Thursday.
