Rahul Dravid is set to vacate his position as the head coach of the Indian men's team. Dravid, whose tenure was over with the conclusion of the ODI World Cup 2023, does not seem keen to renew his contract, sources have told Sports Tak. The former India captain is expected to join Lucknow Super Giants as a mentor ahead of the Indian Premier League 2024 season.

National Cricket Academy head, VVS Laxman is the frontrunner to take over the coaching job. Laxman, who is currently coaching the Indian team in Dravid's absence, could take over on full-time basis after the India vs Australia T20I series.

A top source in the know of development while speaking to Sports Tak said that Dravid did not want to continue and is already in talks with LSG. It seems if he doesn't continue with the national team he might go to LSG as a mentor.

On the other hand, VVS Laxman

who is with the team as head coach may continue.

"There's is a meeting to be scheduled to discuss all this soon everyone will be called to discuss the future of coaching and the team as well," the source revealed to Sports Tak.

Under the coaching of Rahul Dravid, India had their most dominant run in the ODI World Cup, winning 10 matches in a row. The team fell short of winning the trophy after they were defeated by Australia in the final of the tournament. Dravid had spoken after the tournament and said that it was important for the Indian team to learn from the lows of big tournaments like this. The Dravid's coaching, Virat Kohli returned from his form slump and was able to return to his best. Dravid also helped India change their approach in ICC tournaments, playing an aggressive brand of cricket in the World Cup, something that gave them success in the Asia Cup 2023 as well.
