Sachin Tendulkar's life-size statue has been crafted by well-known artist Pramod Kamble while the MCA will be providing free popcorn and cold drink to fans from November 2.
Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar's statue at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai will be unveiled on November 1, a day before India's match against Sri Lanka in the ICC World Cup 2023.
Tendulkar's life-size statue has been crafted by Pramod Kamble, a well known painter-sculptor from Ahmednagar.
The statue will be placed near the Sachin Tendulkar stand at the iconic stadium where India won the 2011 World Cup final.
“Tendulkar is a Bharat Ratna and everyone knows what he has contributed to cricket. As he turns 50, it will be a small token of appreciation from the Mumbai Cricket Association," MCA president Amol Kale had said
earlier this year.
Meanwhile, the MCA has also decided to provide free popcorn and cold drink to all fans in the stadium in the remaining matches of this World Cup. The decision was taken after the game between South Africa and Bangladesh on Tuesday.
Fans in the non-hospitality area can grab their free popcorn and cold drink by showing their tickets at the venue.
“I had proposed to provide free one time popcorn and cold drink to all fans who turn up to watch World Cup games. It will be for non-hospitality areas.
"Once their tickets are stamped, free popcorn and coke will be given to each fan. The MCA will bear the cost of it.
"We will be starting this from India vs Sri Lanka game and it will be done till the semis. The MCA Apex members have agreed to the proposal," Kale said.
