Netherlands coach Ryan Cook hailed India's incredible run in the ongoing World Cup 2023, saying that playing the table-toppers in their final group match on the occasion of Diwali is an exciting opportunity for his side.
The Dutch coach eagerly anticipated facing India and predicted a strong challenge from the Indian team. Despite currently occupying the 10th position in the points table with four points, the Netherlands have achieved notable victories against tournament semi-finalists South Africa and Bangladesh.
"Obviously, we praise straight back at him and his team. I think they've played some incredible cricket over the tournament, obviously won all their matches, and played some dominating cricket as well. Top of the table for
a reason. You can see it. They've got a high quality of players. They look very well-organized and obviously favourites for the tournament going forward. So, obviously, praise back to him rather than praise to us really," the Netherlands coach told the media.
India has been impeccable in the competition, securing eight consecutive victories. Their flawless performance not only guarantees a spot in the semi-finals but also ensures they top the standings.
"But no, we obviously looking forward to the game tomorrow. It'll be a great occasion on Diwali at the Chinnaswamy. Obviously, lots of excitement around that for our team. And yeah, really looking forward to testing our skills up against the table toppers," the Netherlands coach added.
