West Indies fast bowler Shannon Gabriel has announced his retirement from international cricket, concluding a 12-year career during which he made 86 appearances for his country. The 36-year-old shared the news via his Instagram page, reflecting on his journey and expressing gratitude for his experiences.
"During the past 12 years, I have dedicated myself to playing international cricket for the West Indies," Gabriel wrote. "Playing this beloved game at the highest level has brought me immense joy, but as the saying goes, all good things must come
to an end."
Gabriel's most significant contributions came in the Test format, where he played 59 of his 86 matches. Debuting in 2012 at Lord's, Gabriel quickly established himself as a key component of the West Indies pace attack. Over his Test career, he took 166 wickets at an average of 32.21, including six five-wicket hauls. His standout performance came against Sri Lanka in June 2018, where he claimed match figures of 13 for 121, the fourth-best for a West Indian bowler. Gabriel's last Test appearance was against India in Port of Spain in 2023.
