In under-19 cricket, the Indian women’s team registered a massive nine-wicket win over arch-rivals Pakistan in their opening Group A match of the Asia Cup in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. At Bayuemas Oval yesterday, after opting to bat first, Pakistan was restricted to 67/7 in 20 overs with Sonam Yadav returning with the figures of 4 for 6 in four overs. For Pakistan, wicketkeeper-batter Komal Khan was the top scorer with 24. Other than Komal Khan, Fatima Khan with 11
was the only batter to touch double-digit scores.
Chasing a meagre total of 68, Kamalini and Sanika Chalke scripted a match-winning partnership to take India to victory in just 7.5 overs.
Kamalini, who was named Player of the Match, struck 44 not out off 29 balls while Sanika was unbeaten for a 17-ball 19.
India will next take on Nepal on Tuesday.
