Pakistan and Afghanistan cricket teams have been issued visas for their travel to India for the Cricket World Cup 2023 campaign. The Pakistan players and support staff will be handed their visas for the quadrennial tournament on Tuesday.
Pakistan are all set to travel to India via Dubai on Wednesday, September 27. Babar Azam's men will reach Hyderabad via Dubai, 2 days ahead of their first warm-up match on Friday, September 29.
Pakistan had applied for their Indian visas on September 19 and it's not uncommon to take 5 days to get their visas approved. Pakistan had initially planned to have a team-bonding camp in Dubai before arriving in Hyderabad but the team had to cancel that and straightaway land in India.
Pakistan will play two warm-up matches before their first match of the World Cup against the Netherlands, scheduled for October 6. Pakistan take on New Zealand in their first warm-up match in Hyderabad and take on Australia on October 3 at the same venue.
Pakistan and India meet in the marquee group stage match on October 14 at
the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, which will also host the World Cup opener between 2019 finalists England and New Zealand on October 5.
Pakistan are playing their World Cup matches across 5 venues with Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata and Bengaluru hosting 2 matches each and Ahmedabad hosting the big-ticket clash.
Pakistan had headed into the Asia Cup as the No. 1-ranked ODI team but they were knocked out in the Super 4s stage after losing to India and Sri Lanka.
