UP Warriorz (UP-W) registered their first win of the Women’s Premier League 2025 (WPL 2025) as they beat Delhi Capitals (DC) by 33 runs on Saturday, February 22 at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. After being put in to bat first, UP rode on Chinelle Henry’s breathtaking innings (62 off 23) which took them to a good score of 177/9 in their allotted 20 overs.

In reply, Delhi were bundled out for 144 in 19.3 overs as Kranti Goud (4/25) and Grace Harris (4/15, 2.3 overs) took four wickets each. Jemimah Rodrigues was the lone warrior for DChi with her half-century (56 off 35) laced with eight fours and six. As a result, UP registered their first points of the season to move to the fourth spot on the points table, while Delhi slipped to third with four points after facing their first loss of the season.

Delhi’s chase didn’t get off to a flying start as Shafali Verma started slow scoring five runs off 11 balls. She got a life in the first over itself, being dropped at point before beginning her

onslaught in the third over. At the other end, Meg Lanning also decided to break free, smashing her first boundary against Kranti Goud in the fourth over but lost her stumps two balls later leaving Delhi on 26/1 in 4.3 overs.

Her dismissal brought Jemimah Rodrigues at the crease, who attacked right from the word go, scoring two boundaries in the first eight balls. However, at the other end, Shafali failed to get going and eventually holed out to point against Kranti Goud for 24 (30).

With Delhi falling behind on the required run rate, Jemimah continued to deal in boundaries, putting UP bowlers to the sword, but she failed to get any support with wickets falling continuously from the other end. She brought up her half-century off 30 deliveries with a boundary against Tahlia McGrath and stood as a lone warrior in Delhi’s chase before Goud got rid of her and Jess Jonassen (5 off 4) in the 15th over. From there on, there was no comeback for Delhi, who capitulated under pressure to get bowled out for 144.
