Nat Sciver Brunt chipped in with an impressive all-round showing as Mumbai Indians (MI) recorded their first win of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025. On Tuesday, the 2023 champions made a comeback from their defeat against Delhi Capitals (DC) to beat the Gujarat Giants (GG) by five wickets at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara.

After being asked to bat first, MI bowled the Giants out for 120. Hayley Matthews was their standout bowler after she finished with figures of 4-0-16-3. After reducing the Giants to 28 for four in the powerplay, MI didn’t look back. Nat Sciver Brunt got the prized wickets of Beth Mooney

and the dangerous Ash Gardner, who came into the game after back-to-back fifties.

Deandra Dottin, who played cameos in the first two games, failed after being stumped off Amelia Kerr, who impressed with figures of 4-0-22-2. For the Giants, Harleen Deol tried to put her head down for a gutsy 32-run knock before Kerr accounted for her wicket.

Kashvee Gautam, who became the most expensive uncapped player last season, Tanuja Kanwar and Sayali Satghare made vital contributions of 20, 13 and 13, helping the Giants touch the 120-run mark. Amanjot Kaur and Shabnim Ismail picked up one wicket apiece.
