On Thursday, Indian ace badminton player Saina Nehwal defeated world no. 2 of Japan for the first time in four years to enter the quarterfinals.  
This Olympic bronze-medallist and current World No. 10, registered an easy 21-15, 21-17 win over  Yamaguchi. The pre-quarterfinal match lasted for



just 36 minutes. 

The 28-year-old Indian player will now play against World No. 3 Nozomi Okuhara in the quarterfinals on Friday.

Nehwal defeated Yamaguchi for the second time. Nehwal's first win against Yamaguchi was in China Open in the year 2014.
