New Delhi: Embroiled in a controversy over depiction of his picture in a magazine as Lord Vishnu, cricketer M S Dhoni has approached the Supreme Court seeking quashing of criminal proceedings initiated against him in a Bengaluru court.
Dhoni found himself on the wrong side on law after the “Business Today” published a representative picture putting his face in its cover page in April 2013 as Lord Vishnu. He was accused of hurting the religious
sentiments.
In a writ petition, he contended he was not even aware of publication of his picture in such a manner.
He claimed since he has also not given any permission of publishing such an image in the magazine, so no mens rea could be attracted.
The cricker has sought immediate stay and quashing of the proceedings started against him before the Bengaluru court.
