The Dubai World Superseries Badminton Finals begin at the Sheikh Hamdan Indoor Stadium today. World number two in the Dubai Rankings, Kidambi Srikanth, and world number four PV Sindhu are the two Indian shuttlers participating in the tournament as only top eight in Men's and Women's Singles earn the right to compete.
Eight players in each category have been divided into two groups, with the first set of matches scheduled to be held today. Srikanth is in Group-B and will take on Viktor Axelsen of Denmark in the opener, while Sindhu is
in Pool-A and will face China's He Bingjiao.
Both Srikanth and Sindhu would be eying for a great finale as they are entering the tournament on the back of a successful year. Srikanth became the first Indian, and fourth player ever, to win four Super Series titles in a calendar year.
He clinched the Indonesia Open, Australia Open, Denmark Open and the French Open. Sindhu, on the other hand, won the India Open and Korea Open, and bagged a silver at the World Championships in Glasgow.
