India suffered a 60-run defeat against England in the fourth cricket Test in Southampton last night. With this, the hosts took an unassailable 3-1 lead in the five-match series. Indian batting once again wilted miserably under trying circumstances as England bowled India out for 184 to win the fourth test comfortably.
A gritty 101-run
partnership between Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane had raised India's hope after they lost three early wickets in their chase of 245 for victory. But when captain Kohli was dismissed for 58 just before tea, India's resistance crumbled and they lost their last six wickets for 51 runs. The inconsequential final Test will be played at the Oval from September 7.
