The iconic Feroz Shah Kotla stadium in New Delhi has been renamed as Arun Jaitley Cricket stadium.

In a ceremony held at the Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium this evening, Union Home Minister Amit Shah digitally inaugurated the renamed Cricket Stadium in presence of late finance minister and sports administrator's family.

Arun Jaitley served as the President of the Delhi District Cricket Association (DDCA) as well as the vice-president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India.

The DDCA had taken the decision to honour Jaitley



who breathed his last on 24th of August after a prolonged illness.

On the occasion, DDCA also unveiled a new pavilion stand at the Feroz Shah Kotla named after skipper Virat Kohli, who recently became the most successful India captain in Test cricket, surpassing M S Dhoni.

Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju, former Sports Minister Col. Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, members of the Indian cricket team, ex-skipper Kapil Dev and former India opener Chetan Chauhan, among others were present at the ceremony.
