In the World Chess Championship, another match between Indian Grandmaster Dommaraju Gukesh and defending champion Ding Liren of China ended in a draw in Singapore yesterday.
In Game Nine, Gukesh played with the white pieces. Despite gaining a slight advantage in positions after an early exchange of pieces, it was not enough to secure a win. The game eventually reached a draw, with both players agreeing to a truce after 54
moves.
With the sixth consecutive draw, Liren and Gukesh remain tied at 4.5 points each in the 14-game series of the summit clash. Both players still need 3 more points to claim the championship title.
The 32-year-old Liren won the opening game, while the 18-year-old Gukesh emerged victorious in the third game. Today is a rest day for the competitors, with Round 10 scheduled to be played tomorrow.
