Doha: At the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Qatar, Saudi Arabia stunned South American giant Argentina, 2-1 in their opening game at Lusail Stadium. Argentina's Lionel Messi opened the scoring inside 10 minutes from the penalty spot after VAR intervention but Saudi Arabia bounced back in the second half with two goals inside the space of five minutes from Saleh Al-Shehri and Salem Al-Dawsari.

Wales in Group B ended in a 1-1 draw at the Al Rayyan Stadium. The third match of the day between Denmark and Tunisia ended in a goalless draw. The match between Mexico and Poland ended in a 0-0 draw in the Group 'C' match at Stadium 974 in Doha last night.
