The fourth edition of Khelo India Youth Games 2021 will officially kick off in Haryana on Saturday evening with a glittering opening ceremony. Union Home Minister Amit Shah will officially launch the grand sports festival at Panchkula. Khelo India Youth Games is the biggest nationwide grassroot level sports competition in the country. The Chief Minister Manohar Lal said, the Games will play an important role in taking forward Prime Minister Narendra Modi's dream mission.

The Games will continue till 13th of June and will witness as many as 25 sports events which will be held at five venues- Panchkula, Ambala, Shahabad, Chandigarh and Delhi. Among the popular categories include athletics, football, badminton, table tennis, kabaddi, handball, wrestling, volleyball, boxing and the five indigenous sports.

For the first time, all states and Union Territories are taking part



in this edition of the Khelo India Youth Games, with hosts Haryana fielding the largest contingent of 528 players.

Kabaddi and Volleyball matches were held at Panchkula on Friday.

Hosts Haryana scored a 60-24 win over Punjab in the girls’ kabaddi competition during the opening fixtures. In another match in the same category, Andhra Pradesh scored a 40-28 win over Chandigarh. In the boys’s kabaddi, Uttar Pradesh scored a 52-36 win over Punjab, while Himachal Pradesh scored a 77-15 win over Chandigarh.

In the volleyball competition, Uttar Pradesh scored a 3-0 win over Chhattisgarh, while Haryana scored a 3-1 over Tamil Nadu in the boy’s category. In the girls’ category of the same event, West Bengal scored a 3-0 win over Uttar Pradesh, while Kerala scored a 3-2 win over Chhattisgarh.
