Global Chess League Kicks Off in London

In Chess, the Global Chess League, will hold its second edition in London today. Some of the key players competing include five-time World Champion and current world number one Magnus Carlsen, former World Champion Viswanathan Anand, world number two Hikaru Nakamura, and one of the youngest players in the chess elite, 21-year-old Alireza Firouzja.

Other noted Indian players include R. Praggnanandhaa, Arjun Erigaisi, Vidit Gujrathi, R. Vaishali, Koneru Humpy, Vidit



Gujrathi, and Harika Dronavalli. Additionally, former Women’s World Champions Hou Yifan, Alexandra Kosteniuk, Tan Zhongyi, and other leading Grandmasters are among the 36 players participating in this prestigious event. 

The event takes place at Friends House, Euston, with the first round starting at 5:45 pm IST. The six-team franchise chess tournament will conclude on the 12th of this month.
