In the Men’s Hockey India League, Soorma Hockey Club secured a hard-fought 5-3 victory against the Vedanta Kalinga Lancers at the Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium in Rourkela, Odisha yesterday. The Lancers took an early lead in the 5th minute, courtesy of a goal from Dilpreet Singh, but Soorma equalized through Prabhjot Singh. In the third quarter, Harmanpreet Singh and Nicolas Keenan gave Soorma a commanding 3-1 lead. 

However, Thierry Brinkman pulled one back for the Lancers late in the third quarter, reducing the deficit to 3-2. Later, Maninder Singh and Harmanpreet Singh found the back of the net to extend Soorma’s lead further. Even though Gursahibjit Singh pulled a goal back for the



Lancers, Soorma held firm, defending resolutely in the final seconds to seal a vital 5-3 win.

In another match yesterday, Shrachi Rarh Bengal Tigers scripted a come-from-behind victory over Delhi SG Pipers 2-1 in Rourkela. Tomas Domene put the Pipers in front in the 27th minute. However, the Bengal Tigers scored twice in quick succession, courtesy of Sebastien Dockier and Rupinder Pal Singh.

With this result, Bengal Tigers have advanced to the semifinals, while the Soorma Hockey Club moved to the spot third in the standings. Today, team Gonasika will face off against Hyderabad Toofans. The match is scheduled to begin at 8.15 PM, IST.
