In the Hockey India League, Tamil Nadu Dragons claimed their first outright victory by blanking the UP Rudras 2-0 at the Birsa Munda Stadium at Rourkela in Odisha last night. Abharan Sudev and Thomas Sorsby scored for the Dragons, propelling them to third place in the points table with this victory.

Earlier, Soorma Hockey Club defeated Defending champion Vedanta Kalinga Lancers 4-3 at Rourkela. For Lancers, Thierry Brinkman gave an early lead but Jeremy Hayward of Soormas scored an equaliser. Just before halftime, Sanjay’s strike



earned the Lancers the much-needed lead. 

In the second half, Soormas dominated the game with the goals of Nicolas della Torre, and Harmanpreet Singh, however, Gursahibjit Singh equalised for the Lancers. Harish’s goal in the final moments of the game sealed the match for Soormas. Vincent Vanasch was awarded the Player of the match award.

Soorma Hockey Club will face off against Delhi SG Pipers this evening. The match is scheduled to begin at 8:15 PM, IST.
