In the Men’s Hockey India League (HIL), Vedanta Kalinga Lancers put up a stunning attack display to register an emphatic 5-1 win against Delhi SG Pipers at the Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium in Rourkela yesterday. Thierry Brinkman netted two back-to-back goals for the Lancers in the 38th and 43rd minute and got the Player of the Match award. Nicholas Bandurak, Arthur van Doren and Gursahibjit Singh also contributed to Lancer’s commanding victory. Corey Weyer scored the solitary goal for the Pipers in the 46th minute which couldn’t make any difference.

In the



women’s clash, the first-ever penalty shootout in the Women’s HIL was witnessed, with Odisha Warriors outclassing Shrachi Rarh Bengal Tigers 3-2. After an all square at halftime with a field goal scored by either side, both teams failed to break the deadlock. Freeke Moes of Odisha Warriors won the Player of the Match award for her brilliant goal in the penalty shootout.

In today’s clash, Delhi SG Pipers will take on JSW Soorma Hockey Club in the Women’s HIL at Rourkela. The match will begin at 08:15 PM.
