In Hockey, defending champions India registered a dominant 5-1 victory over Japan in their second match at the Men’s Asian Champions Trophy tournament in Hulunbuir, China yesterday. Men in Blue showcased an all-around performance, with Sukhjeet Singh striking early in the 2nd minute and capping the victory with another goal in the 60th minute. Abhishek in 3rd, Sanjay in 17th and Uttam Singh in 54th minute also found the back of the net, putting India firmly in control of the game. Japan managed to pull one goal
back through Matsumoto Kazumasa in the 41st minute.
Four-time champions, India, had earlier defeated Hosts China 3-0 in their opening match. The Harmanpreet Singh-led team will now face last edition’s runners-up, Malaysia, tomorrow.
The tournament features a round-robin format, with the top four teams qualifying for the semifinals on 16th of September. The final is set for 17th of September.
