India's HS Prannoy's hopes of reaching the semi-finals of BWF World Tour Finals came to an end after the Indian shuttler lost his second successive match in Group A in Bangkok. Prannoy went down fighting against China's Guang Zu Lu in his second round-robin match on Thursday, December 8.
Prannoy needed Kodai Naraoka to beat Olympic champion Viktor Axelsen in the last Group A match on Thursday but the Dane topped the Japanese shuttler to end the Indian star's hopes of reaching the final four.
Axelsen confirmed his berth in the
semi-finals with wins over Naraoka and Guang Zu while the winner of the match between the Japan and the China shuttlers will join the Dane in the final four.
Notably, Prannoy had lost to Japan's Naraoka in his first match in Bangkok on Wednesday. It was once again a 3-game battle that the Indian shuttler failed to top.
Prannoy will face Axelsen on Friday and the Indian shuttler will look to end his campaign on a high. Notably, Prannoy had defeated the Dane in their latest meeting, which came at the Indonesia Masters Round of 16 last year.
