In the Hockey India League, the Hyderabad Toofans stormed into the final after defeating JSW Soorma Hockey Club 3-1 at the Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium in Rourkela last evening. The Hyderabad Toofans will face the Shrachi Rarh Bengal Tigers for the title today.
In a semifinal match befitting its status, the Hyderabad Toofans opened the scoring through Amandeep Lakra. Jacob Anderson and Nilakanta Sharma added to the Toofans’ tally, while Jeremy Hayward scored a consolation goal for
Soorma in the final play of the match.
Earlier, the Shrachi Rarh Bengal Tigers secured their spot in the final with a dramatic 6-5 win in penalty shootouts against the Tamil Nadu Dragons. The match ended 2-2 in regulation time. In a thrilling contest, the Tigers twice came from behind to force the shootout.
Meanwhile, JSW Soorma Hockey Club will take on the Tamil Nadu Dragons in the third-place match today.
