India assured of big medal haul as several players enter in semi-finals of Asian Boxing Championships

In the Asian Boxing Championships in Dubai, Amit Panghal, Varinder and Vikas Krishan have entered the semi-finals to assure medals for India. In the 69 kilogram category, Krishan beat Iran’s Moselm Maghsoudi Mal Amir 4-1 in the quarter-finals and will next face reigning Asian Games champion Baturov Bobo Usmon of Uzbekistan in the semi-finals.

Earlier, Olympic Games-bound boxer Panghal defeated



Kharkhuu Enkhmandakh of Mongolia 3-2 in the men’s 52-kg quarter-finals. Panghal will now take on Kazakh boxer Saken Bibossinov in the semis. In the women’s section, six-time world champion M. C. Mary Kom will be in action in the semi-finals of the 51-kg today. The Indian women’s team has entered the semi-finals in almost all the weight categories, including 60-kg and 54-kg.
